Kylone Headend · open source

Open Source Components

The Kylone headend is Kylone's own engine and web UI, built on and shipped with open-source software. This page names those components, their licences and the places where Kylone has changed them, and says how to obtain the corresponding source code. It is the location the licence agreement designates for that purpose.

October 2026, Kylone Headend v4.2. The licences of these components govern them; the Kylone licence agreement does not narrow any right they grant you.

Obtaining the source code

For every component under the GNU General Public License or the GNU Lesser General Public License that Kylone builds or modifies, Kylone provides the complete corresponding source code, including Kylone's modifications and the build instructions, to anyone who received the software. Write to info@kylone.com with the product and version from the unit's About page; Kylone sends the archive or a download link at no charge beyond the cost of the medium. This offer is valid for at least three years from the delivery of the software, as those licences require. Components Kylone ships unmodified are obtained from the upstream project at the version shown on the unit.

1. On every unit

The unit is installed from an ISO image on Rocky Linux. The operating system, its kernel and its packages come from the distribution unchanged, with their sources in the distribution's repositories. The following are shipped by Kylone on top of them.

3. What is Kylone's own

The transport stream engine, the web UI and its API, the installer and the shell tooling, the set-top box and TV clients and the central portal are Kylone's own work and are licensed under the end user licence agreement. They link to the libraries above under those libraries' terms; where a library is under the LGPL it is linked dynamically so that it can be replaced.
